Gloucestershire’s largest comprehensive school with over 200 staff and approximately 1,800 students is seeking a Catering Assistant to join its team working 10 hours per week.
You will be working 10 hours per week, 39 weeks per year, (Term time + INSET Days) Monday to Friday from 12:00-14:00. The outstanding dining facilities provide the forum for students to meet and socialise over food and drink at key points throughout the day. The experience students have whilst in these areas is critical to their perception of the school and their happiness and enjoyment of it.
As the Catering Assistant you will:
- Help with the provision in the two dining centres and Pitstop Cafe which cater for all students and staff at our school.
- Work with the catering team to prepare and cook the daily menu.
- Ensure sufficient food is available at all times during all services throughout the school day.
- Prepare hot and cold food and assist with the service of the food in all service areas throughout the school.
- Minimise wastage and ensure this does not have a negative impact on the effective operation and profitability of the catering operation.
- Assist with serving staff and students, using the school’s till operation system.
- Ensure health and safety regulations are met.
- Maintain hygienic standards as laid down by Management and the Food Safety Act 1990, Food Safety (General Food Staff Regulations 1995) and the Food Safety Temperature Control Regulations.
We are keen to speak to people about this Catering Assistant opportunity with the following:
- Commitment to complete relevant training.
- Have experience working within catering, as a cook, chef – ideally within mass catering
- HACCP training.
- Level 2 food hygiene certificate.
