Job Summary/Purpose:
We are seeking a motivated and safety-conscious college intern to join our power generation team. The intern will gain hands-on experience in power plant operations by working alongside experienced plant operators and maintenance staff. This role is designed to provide exposure to real-world power generation processes, equipment monitoring, plant safety, and operational procedures while supporting daily plant activities.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
-Assist power plant operators with daily operational tasks, including monitoring plant equipment, performing quality rounds, make-up and boiler chemistry, and reporting abnormalities.
-Learn and support startup, shutdown, and normal operating procedures of power plant systems under supervision.
-Shadow operators in the control room to gain exposure to distributed control systems (DCS) and plant monitoring software.
-Assist with performance testing, efficiency checks, and equipment inspections.
-Support environmental and safety compliance activities, including data collection and reporting.
-Participate in preventative maintenance activities and work closely with maintenance crews when needed.
-Conduct basic technical research and provide assistance on special projects as assigned.
-Follow all plant safety policies, procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum education required of the position
-Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a degree in Industrial Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
-Must have a Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale).
Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities
-Strong interest in power generation and plant operations.
-Basic mechanical and/or electrical knowledge preferred.
-Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
-Willingness to work in an industrial environment, including exposure to heat, noise, and rotating equipment.
-Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain a strong focus on safety.
